LIFEGUARD YOUTH CAMP
This is a popular choice for Lifeguard candidates that are strong swimmers, highly responsible and very energetic.
Course Description: This certification will qualify you to work as a Lifeguard supervising a:
- Youth camp aquatic facility;
- Pool or outdoor natural waterfront; and,
- Swimming area with a maximum depth 20 feet or less.
This certification will also qualify you to work as a Lifeguard at an oceanfront beach or surf environment provided you receive additional Lifeguard training from the employer.
Youth camp aquatic facilities are challenging and varied. Lifeguard-Pro thoroughly trains its lifeguards. Our Lifeguard Youth Camp certification course, therefore, also includes our full Lifeguard training programs for Swimming Pool (12 feet depth or less), Shallow Pool (5 feet depth or less), Deep Pool (20 feet depth or less), and Waterfront.
So, when you earn a Lifeguard Youth Camp certification, you will also be awarded separate certifications for:
- Lifeguard Shallow Pool (5 feet depth or less);
- Lifeguard Swimming Pool (12 feet depth or less);
- Lifeguard Deep Pool (20 feet depth or less); and,
- Lifeguard Waterfront.
Lifeguard Youth Camp certification will not only provide you with advanced Lifeguard training it will also provide you with more job opportunities than any other Lifeguard training course.
This course is most commonly chosen by Lifeguard candidates who intend to work as a Lifeguard at a youth camp or another aquatic environment serving large numbers of children, and by individuals seeking to be qualified for the greatest number of job opportunities.
Lifeguard Youth Camp certification is often the required, and always preferred, certification to work as a Lifeguard at a youth camp.
Course Includes: This course is a full Lifeguard certification course, which includes
- Lifeguard Youth Camp Course--30.0 hrs.
- CPR/AED for the Healthcare Provider Course--6.0 hrs.
- First Aid Basics Course--4.0 hrs.
Course Prerequisites: Prior to enrolling in this course, the certification candidate must be able to satisfy the following requirements:
- 15 Years of age or older (with minors consent form for those under 18)
- Ability to swim 500 meters (555 yards) without stopping (there is no time limit)
- Ability to tread water for five minutes
- Ability to dive to a depth of six meters (20 feet)
If you cannot satisfy the above swimming requirements, consider enrolling in the LIFEGUARD SHALLOW POOL (max 5’ depth), LIFEGUARD SWIMMING POOL (max 12’ depth) or LIFEGUARD WATER PARK certification course—all of these courses have an easier to satisfy swimming requirement, and provide you with nearly as many job opportunities.
Course Objectives: At the end of this course, the certification candidate should be able to:
- Safely supervise a youth camp swimming environment (pool and waterfront) with a maximum depth of 20 feet.
- Identify and appropriately respond to a victim in distress in and around the water.
- Recognize and appropriately respond to hazards in and around the water, and take the appropriate action to safeguard patrons, while taking into account the lifeguard’s personal ability, environmental factors, and all prevailing safety procedures.
- Effectively perform all of the basic water rescues for a youth camp swimming environment (pool and waterfront) with a maximum depth of 20 feet.
